I just discovered perhaps the most addicting game I've played in a while. It's called Xplorers.
To play it, go to
http://games.asobrain.com/ and register. Then play it or three other games (I haven't tried them yet).
Xplorers is four players. The goal is to gain 10 points. The game starts by rolling for turn and then placing your first town and a road on a board composed of hexagons. Each hexagon has a number on it. The towns go on the corner between two or three hexagons, depending on placement. Anyway, when the dice are rolled on each turn, a player is awarded a resource (sheep, wood, crystal, stone, and wheat) card for each town placed on the hexagon.
After each player places, each player gets to place another town and road on the board. Roads are used to connect towns. All towns must be at least two spaces apart. All towns must touch a road.
On your turn, you roll the dice. Again, players get resources depending on the roll. If a 7 is rolled, any player that has more than 7 cards in their hand must discard half of their hand. Then, the player who rolled gets to move a black dot called the Robber. The robber stops resources from being produced on the hexagon it is on. When you place the robber, you get to steal one resource card from any player who has a town/city touching the hexagon.
You can buy more towns and roads or upgrade to cities with resources. You can also buy boats, but I'm not quite sure how they work yet. There are also commodity cards you can buy. There are several different types. Most of them give you +1 point (explained in a second). One lets you move the robber without the punishment of losing half of your cards. One lets you get any two resources for free.
Trading: You can trade with other players or with the computer-controlled bank. If you build a town/city on a place where there is an icon and a number ratio, you get a better deal from the bank. If it is a question mark, you can trade any x number of resources for one of anything. If there is a specific picture, you can trade any x number of that for one of anything else.
As for resources, the sheep are sheep. The forests are wood. The desert is stone. The mountain is diamonds. The wheat-looking thing is wheat. The barren one is nothing. On some maps, there are waterfalls. I don't know what they do.
That's essentially the game. It's a lot of fun. Give it a try. My tag on there is SLNR.
