Default Kick the Smoking Habit - 5 Ways to Prepare

1. Make a decision to quit and keep positive about your decision. Don't think about how difficult it will be, don't dwell on the negative.

2. List all the reasons you want to stop smoking. Keep this list handy to review especially before you go to bed at night.

3. Think about all the time you waste smoking, looking for matches, standing outside buildings to smoke and decide your time is more valuable than smoking is.

4. Wash your clothes. Yes, the smell of smoke lingers on clothes a long time so cleaning them will be very helpful to you. You don't want to smell like a smoker.

5. Set a date to quit. If you smoke a lot at work then set your quitting date when you are off. You want to have a few days of not smoking under your belt if you have to go into a smoking environment. Ideally it is best to stay away from places that you tend to light up in for awhile until you feel confident enough to be able to overcome the urge to smoke because you usually do it while you are there.

Good advice, but I disagree with step three... I smoke for less than 5 minutes, and I become productive for more than two hours, I always have lighter in my pockets...
its not a stop overnight habit!!!

Also, consider PharmacoTherapy. I've been dishing it out everyday at work, and most people find it far more useful than will power, or nicotine replacement therapy.

I'm gathering inspiration from Michael Douglas' experience...
We all know it's a malignant tumour and he's been smoking for a while, yes he quit, but it's probably over 90% because he used to smoke.

A friend once sent me some really graphic smoker lungs photos (I don't know if I should put them here)...then finished off the email asking me if I'd like this ashtray for my promotion to death>>

Thanks for the tips... I like the first one the most that decision is much important. Smoking is a very bad habit. It destroys your lungs and make your teeth dirty. dirty teeth make you ill. thus smoking is a bad thing for health.
